Ms Ditzy Goldfishy

Ms Goldfishy: Want to go Genki to eat their ice-cream later?
Me: Ok. What time? Is your dad coming to pick you up?
Ms Goldfishy: No.
Me: So we'll study till 5pm and then go Genki?
Ms Goldfishy: No, I need to go home early today to take care of my goldfishy. One of my goldfishy was swimming sideways this morning.
Me: *Faints

Princess of Excuses

She's never wrong, never responsible, never to blame. "No, it's not my fault; No, I did nothing wrong; No, I can't do better; No, I haven't made a single mistake."

White Houses by Vanessa Carlton

And I'm so excited, I haven't spoken
And she's so pretty, and she's so sure
The summer is all in bloom
The summer is ending soon

We're going way too fast
It's all too sweet to last
Love, or something ignites in my veins
And I pray it never fades

We gave each other up so easily
These silly little wounds will never mend
I feel so far from where I've been
So I go, and I will not be back here again

And you, maybe you'll remember me
What I gave is yours to keep

The 9th month of the Gregorian Calendar

Always, time moves with a fluid velocity when one is busy. Like now, this third week of September. Multiple things to be done, each with their back-to-back & approaching deadlines.

In such hectic times, one fourteen-hour workday appears segued with the next, distinguished from the other only by a six-hour band of sleep, a shower & the daily commute.

Meals are hastily consumed without the luxury of tasting the food. That is I mean, if you remembered to eat... Certainly has to be a sedulous month for me, September.

Stay by Alison Krauss

There is a way
To make you stay
Darling don't turn away
Don't doubt your heart
And keep us apart
I'm right where you are
Stay

We Will Never Be Cowed

The Australian Embassy in Jakarta was bombed yesterday, and despite it being heavily fortified, the damage was still catastrophic. Windows in the Embassy and surrounding buildings were shattered to pieces, fires broke out, at least 9 were killed and over a 180 were injured.

For me, one afterthought as captured by the image below is simply this: They can threaten us, they can shoot us, they can bomb us. They can do whatever they want in trying to bring us down; But well, we won't be cowed for our flag will still fly as high as before.

Our pride, resolve & beliefs will all remain intact, if not stronger. We will never give up any of our liberties, for freedom is the one most fundamental inspiration that everyone is entitled to. Nobody can take that away from us.

The Good & the Great

"I believe that a high-performance culture is the critical differentiator that separates the great from those that are merely good, and that separates enduring success from transitory achievement."

Carpe Diem Quam Minimum Credula Postero

Dear Garfield,

Someone told me that she doesn't like you because she thought you were a fat lazy cat. Hmm, that's quite true of you right? But then I thought hey, isn't everyone guilty of indolence at one point or another? We sloth. We put things on hold. We procrastinate.

So well well, I was so inspired & proud of you when I saw the one-liner on your movie poster which read, "the world's laziest cat finally has a reason to get out of his couch". So hmm if a lazy couch-potato like you could do it, surely I can too, right? *Muacks* Garfield.

I guess it's also true that everyone needs reason & motivation to overcome the dragging inertial & move things forward. And yeaps, procrastination is the natural assassin of opportunity, so let us not dither anymore and make full use of our precious time ya? :p

Carpe diem is Latin for "seize the day" or "enjoy the moment". This rule of life is found in the "Odes" (I, 11.8) of the Roman poet Horace where it reads: Carpe diem quam minimum credula postero ("seize this day, never trust the next").

Nothing Will Hold Us Back

2nd September 2004
Madison Square Garden, New York City

President George W. Bush

"[We] have been given hills to climb, and found the strength to climb them. Now, because we have made the hard journey, we can see the valley below. Now, because we have faced challenges with resolve, we have historic goals within our reach, [and] nothing will hold us back."

Choices & the Road Less Traveled

Such a poignant poem (abridged) that brings back memories of the life choices I had made. Some had turned out well, while others a complete chocolate mess. Choices. Decisions. Paths. But who will tell us what to do? Who do we answer to?

Hmm I guess at the very end of the day, we all answer to our conscience and our sense of duty. Ultimately that's all there is, isn't it? Who will tell us what to do? Who will tell us what is right? You see? Conscience and duty. It has to be them.

"Two roads diverged in a yellow wood
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I...
I took the one less traveled by
and that has made all the difference"

Ms Smarty Ditzy

Me: Do you want to go run marathon?
D: Errrr, my only form of exercise is eating & sleeping, hmmmm and maybe shopping.

And so our Ms Smarty Ditzy lost her wallet at the school's McDonalds yesterday. Felt quite bad on my part as it was me who suggested going there.

Anyway so it was like poooooor girl, didn't really knew how to comfort her, but to work through what she has to do and tell her not to be too upset.

Hey I lost stuff before alright so I know how it feels... But well well, like a little wish-come-true, a kind-hearted girl found it and Ms Smarty Ditzy got her wallet back today with everything intact!

So at least we all learn to be more careful in the future ya? :p
